Dancing on Ice has confirmed that professional skater Tippy Packard has been replaced for the current series.

Digital Spy understands that Tippy has sustained an injury to her knee, which means that Vicky Ogden has been drafted in to serve as Eddie the Eagle's partner for the upcoming series.

The hope is that Tippy will still be able to take part in the group performances throughout the series.

"Eddie 'The Eagle' is a true legend who has captured the hearts of fans worldwide. This year, we're determined to show just how iconic he is.

"Together, let's recreate the magic and cheer Eddie on like we did all those years ago. Are you ready? 5, 6, 7, 8. Let's do this, Eddie!"

"I was having so much fun and enjoying learning to skate. I will of course be keeping a close eye on all of the other celebs and pros and supporting them all the way," he added.

"He is still very much a part of the Dancing On Ice family, we will be helping to support Stephen and we wish him well with his recovery," an ITV spokesperson added.

Dancing on Ice's 16th series begins this Sunday, January 14, on ITV1 and will also be available to stream on ITVX.
