David Moyes lands first new role following confirmation of West Ham departure

David Moyes has landed his first job since confirming his departure from West Ham at the end of the season.

After much speculation, it was confirmed earlier this week that Moyes would leave the Hammers for a second time upon the expiration of this contract this summer.

The Scot had previously left the door open to signing a new deal but will leave as the Irons look to appoint former Wolves, Spain and Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui as his replacement.

Standard Sport understands Lopetegui will be backed in the transfer market once his move is confirmed, with as many as six new signings targeted.

Moyes will leave as one of West Ham’s most successful managers having steered them into Europe for three consecutive seasons.

Last year, he led the club to their first major trophy since 1980 by winning the Europa Conference League in Prague.

Ahead of this summer’s European Championship in France, Moyes has been confirmed as a pundit for talkSPORT’s coverage of the tournament.

“David Moyes joins talkSPORT for the tournament to provide his tactical insights as Scotland and England hope to go deep into the event,” read a statement from the broadcaster.

Moyes added of his new role: “With the distinct lack of Scottish football voices on talkSPORT for the Euros tournament - just the five so far with Ally [McCoist], Alan [Brazil], Shebahn [Aherne], Jim [White] and Graeme [Souness] in the mix - I’m delighted to be another Scot flying the flag for my home team on the best sports network. The more the merrier, eh?”

Moyes will oversee his final home game in charge of West Ham in Saturday’s Premier League clash with Luton.
