David Tennant will make his eagerly-awaited return to the TARDIS in a special Doctor Who sketch for BBC Children In Need.

This year's live charity event, set to raise vital funds for BBC Children in Need, will feature a star-studded presenting line-up including Ade Adepitan MBE, Mel Giedroyc, Jason Manford, Chris Ramsey, Lenny Rush, and Alex Scott MBE.

The three-hour show will feature a range of performances and sketches, including a special Doctor Who instalment which will see the Fourteenth Doctor return to our screens.

Fans will also be able to watch an exclusive episode of Doctor Who: Unleashed on BBC iPlayer, which will take them behind the scenes of the iconic sci-fi show.

This year's Children in Need will also feature specials from MasterChef, The Graham Norton Show, and The One Show alongside Race Across the World parody Race Across Yorkshire and music and stage performances.

The news comes as Doctor Who celebrates its 60th anniversary with its autumn anniversary specials, as well as the launch of a new spin-off show which has seen several fan-favourite characters return.

Tales of the TARDIS, which began yesterday (November 1), is a six-part series that "reunites beloved classic Doctor Who duos, as they board a very special TARDIS on a nostalgic voyage through space and time", according to a synopsis.

Former Doctors Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy are all part of the cast alongside Maureen O’Brien, Peter Purves, Frazer Hines, Wendy Padbury, Katy Manning, Daniel Anthony, Janet Fielding, Nicola Bryant and Sophie Aldred.

“Tales of the TARDIS is one of the greatest delights of my career,” said showrunner Russell T Davies of the series. “To see old Doctors and companions reunited, still fighting the good fight, is a perfect way to celebrate the Doctor’s 60th birthday.”

BBC Children in Need will air at 7pm on BBC One and will be available to catch up on BBC iPlayer.
