July 4 may be a major holiday, but aside from that whole American independence thing, it's also a big day for fans of the Beckhams. July 4, 1999, is the day everyone's favorite Spice Girl-footballer duo tied the knot. And because they're as generous as they are gorgeous, the Beckhams blessed our feeds with the most iconic move, ever: they re-created their now-infamous all-purple wedding reception 'fits, thrones and all. Victoria and David both shared the image to their respective accounts. In the snapshot, they're both wearing all-purple outfits, with VB slipping back into her dramatic gown with contrasting red lining and a cascading floral detail. David wore his suit, which featured a bold, wide lapel and shiny finish.

"Look what we found… 😅💜," David captioned the image.

Viewers of Beckham, the pair's Netflix documentary series, will remember that David addressed the look during the show.

“I'm trying to think back to when I decided to wear a purple suit, and I don't know when that happened,” David explained in the docuseries. “I think I just took Victoria's lead on it, but what were we thinking?"

Victoria offered some insight, defending the look by saying, “But it was fun. We weren't worried about what people were going to say. You just want to express yourself, that's just who we were.”

Speaking about how many people saw the ceremony and reception as over-the-top (it took place at an actual castle and did involve thrones), VB said that it was all meant to be a little cheeky—and that not everyone understands her sense of humor.

"I think that the media glamorized the wedding much more than it actually was," Victoria said at the annual Business of Fashion Voices conference in 2022, per Hello!. "I love to have fun. I work very, very hard. I take what I do very seriously. I want to be a great wife, a really great mum, but I wanna have fun as well. Sometimes my tongue-in-cheek sense of humor does tend to get me in trouble, but the wedding wasn't as huge as everybody made it out [to be].”

2024 marks the couple's 25th wedding anniversary, but it's not the first time David's used the purple ensembles to commemorate his anniversary. It's a go-to move for the former soccer pro. For his 22nd anniversary, he posted a throwback pic from his wedding day, writing, "22 years later, still matching outfits 😂 Happy anniversary love u so much and thank you for giving me our amazing kids so we can all wear the same."
