Death in Paradise's new Australian-set spin-off has officially wrapped filming.

The new series, titled Return to Paradise, stars former Home and Away actor Anna Samson.

She plays Detective Inspector Mackenzie Clarke, who's forced to leave her job with the Metropolitan Police in London following an incident and return to her home town.

Taking to Instagram this week, Samson expressed her heartbreak over the end of filming and having to part ways with her co-stars.

"I got to spend the last three months with these three lads," she captioned a sweet photo of herself with co-stars Aaron McGrath, Lloyd Griffith and Tai Hara.

"I love them more than I can say. We wrapped our show this week and my heart is broken that they will no longer be contractually obliged to spend time with me."

Hara, who also previously starred on Home and Away, was quick to comment on the post and joke: "Nah we can write up a new contact?"

Return to Paradise will follow Samson's detective Mack. With her job prospects limited after she's accused of tampering with evidence at the Met, she reluctantly returns to her Australian hometown of Dolphin Cove.

However, having fled the town six years ago after jilting her ex-fiancée Glenn (played by Hara) at the altar, Mack's return to Dolphin Cove is not welcomed by everyone.

The official synopsis teases Mack's "unique talent for solving a mystery, no matter how challenging", which comes in handy when she's made aware of a complex case.

"She can't rest until she's figured it out, and the killer is in handcuffs," the synopsis continues.

"It's that tenacity and work ethic that might just, over time, help Mackenzie win over her new colleagues, and the people of Dolphin Cove."

Return to Paradise is awaiting a release date. Death in Paradise and its spin-off, Beyond Paradise, both air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
