Demi Lovato is already envisioning the first dance at her wedding.

During a pre-taped conversation with Donna Farizan that aired on Today with Hoda and Jenna on Friday, the singer  — who uses she/they pronouns —  said that she would love for the Goo Goo Dolls to perform on her special day.

"I would love the Goo Goo Dolls to be able to perform 'Iris' at my wedding as a first dance," Lovato, 31, said. "That would be so special and so incredible."

The musician and her fiancé, Jordan 'Jutes' Lutes, first met in January 2022 while working on her song "Substance" and went public with their romance that August. In February 2023, they made their red carpet debut at Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy Gala and became engaged in December 2023.

During the talk show appearance, she proudly opened up about what makes her romance with Lutes, 32, different.

"Having someone that you can be your weirdest, goofiest self with is just so much fun. We have a blast together. We are able to create music together, which is something that I've never done before," she said.

Their love story is something Lovato said has made all the ups and downs she's been through "worth it."

"I think that love is the greatest gift that we can receive in this lifetime and being able to find love is so rewarding and definitely makes all of the hardships that I’ve been through and heartbreaks seem worth it," she said.

Lovato appeared on the talk show to speak about her partnership with the American Heart Association. The singer was a performer at the organization's Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection Concert on Wednesday.

At the event, she told PEOPLE that she has a "clear vision" in terms of what she wants on the big day and that she has "definitely" started dress shopping.
