Derek Hough's Wife Hayley Erbert Congratulates Him on Emmy Win After ‘Unfathomable Month'

"I have loved being able to witness and be a part of your journey this far," Erbert wrote on Instagram

Hayley Erbert is celebrating her husband, Derek Hough.

On Sunday, the Dancing with the Stars judge, 38, won the Creative Arts Emmy Award for outstanding choreography for variety or reality programming for the ABC series. And on Tuesday, Erbert, 29, shared on Instagram how proud she is of her husband's achievement.

“What a way to be welcomed home after such an unfathomable month. @derekhough, you continue to amaze me with your drive, brilliance, and commitment to excellence,” wrote Erbert.

“I have loved being able to witness and be a part of your journey this far and cannot wait to see what else the future holds,” added the professional dancer. “I love you more than anything and am so unbelievably proud of you, today and always. ♥️”

Her touching caption accompanied a carousel of three snaps of the couple prior to her recent health scare.

In December, Erbert received a cranial hematoma diagnosis that resulted from a burst blood vessel and had to undergo emergency surgery.

As Hough accepted the Emmy — his fourth — he praised his wife for her ongoing strength as she recovers. "Exactly a month ago, I was in the hospital," he said tearfully. "A month ago was a life-changing moment that reminded me to really cherish and savor every moment."

"I want to dedicate this to my beautiful wife," he continued. "Your strength and your courage this whole month has been unbelievable. You inspired me every day.”

One month before Hough's Emmy win, he and Erbert were on their Symphony of Dance tour when Erbert required an emergency craniectomy after being diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel.

Soon after the Dec. 7 emergency surgery, Erbert underwent a second surgery. Hough then shared that the follow-up cranioplasty to repair her skull had been “successfully completed as planned.”

Despite their very tough time, the couple happily celebrated their first holiday season together as a married couple on Dec. 25 with a sweet Instagram post.

"Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas! 🎄 Cherishing the greatest gift of all," the pair captioned a joint Instagram post featuring a photo of them kissing in front of a Christmas tree. "The precious gift of life and the love we share. Hold your loved ones close and treasure every moment. ♥️."

The couple — who have been together since 2015 — tied the knot in California in August after getting engaged in June 2022.
