DeSantis Says He's Well Aware Of Dairy Queen Blizzards In Ice-Cold Dig At Trump

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis appeared to serve up a frozen diss to former President Donald Trump during a stop at a Dairy Queen in Iowa on Friday.

DeSantis declared that he’s known about DQ’s popular Blizzard treat “for a long time” after Trump, his rival for the GOP’s 2024 presidential nomination, asked “what the hell is a Blizzard?” at one of the fast-food chain’s other Iowa locations last week.

“When you’re here you’ve got to do a Dairy Queen, and I appreciate Sen. [Chuck] Grassley setting that,” said DeSantis in an apparent nod to the Iowa Republican’s love for the restaurant.

“I’ve known what Blizzards are for a long time. It’s a really important part and I’m happy to do it,” DeSantis added.

The Florida governor later ordered an Oreo Blizzard with Iowa Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig and said he’s enjoyed the treat since childhood.

He noted that his children like Blizzards too, along with ice-cream cones.

DeSantis, who previously offered free beer to bar-goers following Trump’s “food for everyone” gaffe at a Florida restaurant, spent part of the DQ stop proclaiming his support for fellow Republican Kim Reynolds, the Iowa governor recently targeted by Trump for not endorsing him over DeSantis.

“I opened up the Governor position for Kim Reynolds, & when she fell behind, I ENDORSED her, did big Rallies, & she won,” wrote Trump on his Truth Social platform Monday.

“Now, she wants to remain ‘NEUTRAL.’ I don’t invite her to events! DeSanctus down 45 points!”

In Iowa, DeSantis remarked that Republicans “really should be thankful” for Reynolds.

“She’s done a fantastic job,” he said, praising Reynolds for signing a bill into law in the state to ban most abortions after six weeks.

Trump continued to lead DeSantis in national polls by an average of more than 28 percentage points as of Friday, according to FiveThirtyEight.
