‘Designated Survivor’ & ‘Cleaning Lady’ Co-Stars Mourn Adan Canto: Kiefer Sutherland “Heartbroken” & Maggie Q Shares Tribute To Her “Beautiful Friend”

Adan Canto, who starred in shows like Designated Survivor and The Cleaning Lady, died after a private battle with appendiceal cancer. Following news of his death, his co-stars are remembering the late actor and paying tribute to his memory.

Kiefer Sutherland shared a post on Instagram to honor Canto and shared that he was “heartbroken” by his loss and for his family.

“It seems lately I have had to make too many posts like this one, but I am heartbroken by the loss of Adan Canto,” Sutherland shared. “He was such a wonderful spirit. As an actor his desire to do well, to be great, and then do better, was truly impressive and he will be greatly missed. I am also heartbroken for his wife, Steph and his two young children. Adan, may you rest in peace.”

Maggie Q shared a post on Instagram to honor her “beautiful friend” adding, “You are the level of person that Hollywood didn’t even deserve. Kindness and warmth and generosity of spirit- total dedication to your family, and ALWAYS doing the right thing.”

“No one had your moral compass nor did they even come close,” she continued. “I don’t understand this. Anyone who knew you was a lucky one. That’s all I do know.”

LaMonica Garrett from Designated Survivor said, “As great of an actor as Adan was, he was an even better human being, father, husband, and friend. Exuded both confidence and humility effortlessly. As stand up as they come. Sad day. You, your wife and children will be in my prayers brother… RIP friend….”

Sean Lew, who plays Chris in The Cleaning Lady, shared some thoughts on Instagram Stories.

“I’m kinda at a loss for words. A loss for thoughts. A loss for what to think. Just really lost,” read Lew’s statement.

“Adan, you were one of the coolest people I’ve ever worked with. I was honored to be your castmate,” he continued. “I was never in any of your scenes but I would always catch you during lunch and share a laugh with you every single time. We continue the show in honor of you and everything you’ve given us. Not a single day will go by without acknowledging what you’ve given this world. Thank you for everything and I will truly miss you.”

Shiva Negar from The Cleaning Lady, also took to Instagram Stories to react to news of Canto’s death.

“I can’t, I just can’t,” Negar wrote alongside a crying face and three broken-hearted emojis.

Negar also shared photos of herself and Canto in different scenes.

Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment, who produce The Cleaning Lady, released a joint statement mourning Canto.

“We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Adan Canto. A wonderful actor and dear friend, we were honored to have him as part of the Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment families since his U.S. debut in The Following more than a decade ago,” read the statement. “Most recently, he lit up the screen in The Cleaning Lady with a powerful performance that showcased his artistry, range, depth and vulnerability. This is an unfathomable loss, and we grieve alongside his wife Stephanie, their children and loved ones. We will miss Adan dearly.”

Fox TV, which airs The Cleaning Lady, took to X to pay tribute to Canto.

“He’ll always be our Arman. Adan Canto, your memory will be cherished forever. We grieve alongside Adan’s family, friends, and fans,” read the statement.
