Desperate Housewives star thought he'd never work again after series
Desperate Housewives star Roger Bart has revealed he thought he’d never work again following his role in the series.
The actor played George Williams on the ABC show, with his character beginning a relationship with Bree Van de Kamp (Marcia Cross) after her husband’s affair.
As the series progressed, George’s behaviour became increasingly possessive as he sought control over Bree’s life. This eventually resulted in his death from an overdose, with Bart telling PEOPLE that he was worried about his job prospects after playing the depraved pharmacist.

“I asked the director, 'You think I'm ever going to work again after this?' Because I was realising, just by walking through airports, this is impactful,” he recalled when talking about filming George’s demise.
“I was walking through an airport, and the amount of attention I got for it because back then – everyone tuned in at 9:00 on a Sunday – it was like 23 million people, it was crazy. It was really something.”
Bart needn’t have worried, though, with his post-Desperate Housewives credits including roles on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, How I Met Your Mother, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and A Series of Unfortunate Events.
Though Desperate Housewives ended in 2012, Eva Longoria previously hinted that a spinoff could happen in the future, with the star stating that she would happily reprise the role of Gabrielle Solis.

“I'd be the first one to sign up. I'd probably be the only one,” she said. “I always tell Marc [Cherry, creator]: 'So, you wouldn't do a reboot?' He just thinks we have fully mined those characters.”
“He doesn’t know what else there is to say about those characters. I think he'd do a new show on Wisteria Lane. A new set of women,” she added.
