The Devil Wears Prada musical is coming in 2024 from Elton John and ticket sales have started
17 years after The Devil Wears Prada debuted on the big screen starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, it's been announced that a new stage version – based on the movie and the cutthroat novel that inspired it – will debut next year.
Set to premiere on October 24, 2024 at London's Dominion Theatre, with the legendary Elton John on original score duties, this musical version of The Devil Wears Prada also has lyrics from singer-songwriter Shaina Taub and a book by Kate Weatherhead. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.

Back to the Future's set designer Tim Hatley and award-winning director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell, whose previous stage credits include Kinky Boots and Legally Blonde, are also involved.
There will be exclusive preview shows for the new musical at Theatre Royal Plymouth, too, starting in July 2024.

John, who performed his last-ever UK show at this summer's Glastonbury festival, was first attached to a theatrical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada for Broadway back in 2017.
"Re-imagining The Devil Wears Prada for the musical theatre is super exciting. I'm a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world. I can't wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture," he said at the time.
In case you haven't encountered the force of nature that is Miranda Priestly before, here's the new musical's official synopsis: "Fresh out of college, aspiring journalist Andy scores a job at the prestigious Runway magazine working for fashion's most powerful and terrifying icon — editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly.

Anna Hathaway portrayed Andrea Sachs (changed from Andy) in the 2006 movie, while multiple Oscar-winner Streep gave cinema-goers a Miranda to remember.
Casting for The Devil Wears Prada musical will be announced in due course.
