How did the UK do in Eurovision 2023?
The Eurovision Song Contest's big finale aired this evening (May 13), with Sweden walking away victorious in the end.
The UK sadly didn't do very well, with this year's entrant Mae Muller (who was the last entrant to perform during the evening) ending up placing second from last with 24 points once both the jury and public votes had been taken into account.
Muller entered this year's competition with her track 'I Wrote A Song', and followed in the footsteps of Sam Ryder last year, who ended up placing second behind eventual winners Ukraine.

Londoner Muller was announced as the UK's 2023 entry back in March, and said at the time that she has "loved watching Eurovision all [her] life, so to compete in such a massive music competition is simply brilliant".
Speaking further about being selected to represent the UK, the singer told the Eurovision Song Contest Podcast: "It's so different to anything else. Obviously we all want to do well, and we've all been working really hard, but I kind of forget that it's a competition when I'm with everyone, because everyone's just so supportive."
Speaking further about her song, the star added: "All my music kind of derives from my personal experiences but I just wanted to write something empowering, that would get everyone up off their seats."

This year's final was presented by Graham Norton, Ted Lasso's Hannah Waddingham, Alesha Dixon and Julia Sanina, with the competition taking place in Liverpool this year on behalf of last year's winners Ukraine due to the Russian invasion of the country.
The UK's National Jury votes were announced by Doctor Who star Catherine Tate, who was confirmed to be presenting earlier this week.
The Eurovision Song Contest airs on BBC One.
