Djordje Petrovic backs Benjamin Sesko for Premier League move as Chelsea and Arsenal circle

Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has backed Benjamin Sesko for a move to the Premier League.

The RB Leipzig forward has been linked with a move to some of England’s biggest clubs and his agent was even spotted at Old Trafford watching Manchester United’s defeat to Arsenal earlier this month.

Standard Sport understands both the Gunners and Chelsea have watched the 20-year-old in action this season, while United and Newcastle have also been touted as potential landing spots.

There is also believed to be interest in Sesko – who scored 14 Bundesliga goals in the season just gone and has release clause of around £55m – in Italy and Saudi Arabia.

Agent Elvis Basanovic, however, has hinted the Premier League will likely be Sesko’s next destination.

The signing of a new forward is believed to be a priority for Arsenal this summer and they are believed to retain an interest in Alexander Isak, although Newcastle are adamant the Sweden international will not be sold.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are expected to be in the market for a top-level striker and retain a strong interest in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, although a number of other top European clubs are said to be keen.

Petrovic, who may come up against Sesko when Serbia play Slovenia at Euro 2024 in a group also containing England and Denmark, praised the striker and backed him to succeed in the English top flight.

“I know [about the rumours] and have been following him,” he told Nogomania.

“He’s having a good half-season, he’s in great scoring form.

“I read that he’s scored in his last seven matches in a row. He seems to have gained strong momentum for the Euros.

“He’s a forward who has everything a modern player needs. He’s tall, strong, fast and intelligent.

“I’ve watched some of his matches. Of course he can play in the Premier League. Absolutely!

“He has great potential and he’s been successfully proving it in recent months.”
