Doctor Who spoilers follow.

Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies has teased that important dates are coming up for fans.

The writer is a master of drumming up publicity for the BBC One series, and thus, he has hinted in his Letter from the Showrunner column in Doctor Who Magazine (via Radio Times) that fans should make some space in their diaries.

Davies singles out Wednesday, November 1, Friday, November 17 and Thursday, November 23 as special dates for Doctor Who fans.

While the first thought might be that these are the air dates for three 60th anniversary specials featuring David Tennant and Catherine Tate, Davies has further revealed that's not the case.

"None of those is the date of the Specials' transmission," he confirmed.

Davies also ruled out some kind of live event to celebrate the 60th anniversary, explaining that his team have "concentrated our fire on things everyone can see".

The most intriguing date is Thursday, November 23. This is the actual 60th anniversary of the night Doctor Who's first-ever episode, 'An Unearthly Child', was transmitted in 1963.

The showrunner has also hinted that fans will be seeing Doctor Who's new companion show Unleashed before the premiere of the first special 'The Star Beast'.

"You'll know about Unleashed by now, yes?" Davies wrote in his column. "Although you won’t know it'll be popping up unexpectedly, briefly, well BEFORE 'The Star Beast' is shown. What? How? Oh just wait!"

The companion series replaces Doctor Who Confidential and will feature former BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat presenter Steffan Powel on set for every new episode to interview the cast and crew.

"When you're told Russell T Davies is asking for you to present a show, you say, 'When does he want me?' Doesn’t matter, I'll be there," Powell recently said.

"There's a really fun and fascinating group of people bringing Doctor Who to life — I can’t wait for the audience to meet them. I'm so chuffed to have been trusted to help tell, in all its glory, the story of what goes into making the magic happen."

Doctor Who returns later in 2023 on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Meanwhile, in the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on Max.
