Doctor Who has shared new details about Yasmin Finney's character, who will be introduced in the upcoming 60th anniversary specials.

The Heartstopper actress was first announced as a member of the Doctor Who cast back in May 2022, when it was revealed she'd be playing a character called Rose.

While Rose is a recognisable name for Whovians, it seems Finney won't be playing a new incarnation of Billie Piper's Rose Tyler, but instead Donna Noble's daughter.

Sharing a special birthday tribute to Finney on Wednesday (August 30), the official Doctor Who Twitter account revealed new information about her character, confirming Rose's full name.

"Welcome to the #DoctorWho family, Rose Noble," the Tweet read. "Wishing a very happy birthday to Yasmin Finney, whose character Rose is the daughter of companion Donna Noble (played by Catherine Tate) and Shaun Temple (Karl Collins)."

The official announcement follows on from continued fan speculation that Finney would be playing Donna and Shaun's daughter.
