Supacell episode 1 spoilers follow.

Doctor Who star Tosin Cole has admitted he was nervous when filming a Supacell sex scene with co-star Adelayo Adedayo.

Cole stars as Michael in the Netflix sci-fi show, which is centred on Black people who discover they have powers. Their steamy scene takes place in episode one when Adedayo's character Dionne discovers her fiancé's new gifts after he teleports during sex.

"I think I was the most nervous [I've been] because I was quite early on," Cole told Digital Spy.

He explained that he was less worried about the intimacy of the scene and more concerned with getting it to feel authentic.

"You have to kind of sit down and think, 'Are we doing too much? Are we doing enough? Are we talking about the right things? And that [scene] basically kicks off the show," he added.

"We tried so many different options. So many different ways of doing stuff and then we just let [the show's creator Rapman] pick whichever one he was comfortable with."

Adedayo also expressed the same concern, stating that while it felt "quite natural to go from being super in love to then going into extreme fear" because of someone disappearing in front of you, she was worried about getting the aftermath of the shock to feel right.

"What I thought that we found a little bit more difficult was when you come back," said The Responder star, "because then it's like how do you react?

"Do you sit there? Do you have a conversation? Do you ask them if they've lost it? So I think that was a little bit more of a conversation like, 'How does that work?'"

The two praised Rapman (aka Andrew Onwubolu) for allowing them the freedom to experiment with their performances.

"It's nice when someone is able to trust you to find that and find within yourselves and the characters and actors as well," said Cole.

Adedayo echoed the same sentiment, adding: "It's fun. It's the way you want to do it. You want to be able to play but also, you do want to have a parameter.

"You do want to know where you're supposed to get to or what the director wants, which Raps is really good at. He knows exactly what he wants and exactly where he wants you to go.

"Then, in order to get there he still gives you space to play around and figure out how you want to get there. To find it, basically."
