An angry homeowner has created a ‘wall of shame’ for walkers who pass their home in Cornwall and leave dog mess in their bin.

Pictures of the people using the bin to clear up their mess are posted on the laminated wall of shame, alongside a message hitting out at “c****y” dog owners.

The South West Coast Path between Mylor and the Pandora Inn in Restronguet is a popular walk for locals, tourists and dog owners – but there is a lack of bins available.

When approaching the pub there is a collection of properties, including one with an outbuilding with bins at the side, just off the main path.

The resident of the property has seemingly grown fed up of dog walkers using the bins to dispose of their pets’ waste.

Three dog walkers have so far been featured, with the owner posting their images from a secret CCTV camera.

The laminated note reads: "There are no bad dogs only c****y owners who can't be a***d to take their dog poo home and leave it for the poor binman to deal with.”

The note warns walkers that they are being filmed and should take the mess home with them and not “leave it for others”.

Alongside the note, four people are pictured – three for putting dog mess into the bin and another for stealing flowers.

One passer-by who saw the wall of shame said: "Putting it in the bin is better than leaving it on the path. I don't see what the problem is."

But another said: "I wouldn't like it if it was my bin. Imagine how bad it would smell after a couple of days in the sunshine.

“Maybe someone should install a public bin – they've got to do something with it."

Where can I dispose of dog waste?

While there are specific red bins to place bagged up dog waste, it is not the only thing available to pet owners.

The waste can be placed in your own general waste wheelie bin at home, as long as it is in a strong dog mess bag.

Some councils allow dog mess to be placed in garden waste bins, but owners should check with their local authority.

If out walking, the dog waste bins should be used but regular rubbish bins can also be used to place the bagged mess into if no specific bins are available.

While it is not illegal to use someone else’s private bins to place dog waste in, it may be considered bad etiquette to do so and dog owners are encouraged to use public bins if available.
