Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens lands next lead movie role
Dan Stevens has landed his next lead movie role.
The Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Downton Abbey actor has lined up a spooky role in one of Universal's upcoming monster movies, according to Deadline.
Dan is set to star alongside Scream's Melissa Barrera in a film that is expected to revitalise a classic movie monster in the same way The Invisible Man or the new film Renfield has done.

There's no telling which classic monster will be at the centre of this horror movie, but Universal has a stable of memorable creatures like Frankstein's Monster, the Wolfman, Dracula, The Mummy, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and countless others.
Monster movies have been a trademark for the Universal Studios for nearly a century, as the studio made a name for itself with creature features starring Lon Chaney Sr and Jr, Boris Karloff and Abbott and Costello.
In his own career, Dan Stevens has played some memorable villains. While there was no supernatural element, he was spinet-tinglingly evil in the 2014 thriller The Guest.

Dan also memorably battled his way through a Welsh cult's village in the horror movie Apostle and experienced a holiday from hell in The Rental. He's also starring in the upcoming Godzilla Vs Kong: The New Empire.
These terrifying films have signified a pretty significant career shift for the British actor since his breakthrough came as playing the gentlemanly Matthew Crawley in Downton Abbey.
His new Universal monster movie is being written by Hunted's Stephen Shields and Scream's Guy Busick, and will be produced by the same team who scored a hit with Scream VI.
Scream VI is in cinemas now. Scream (2022) is out now on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD, to download and keep, or to stream on Paramount+.
