RuPaul's Drag Race judge Michelle Visage has responded to calls for drag kings to compete on the show.

The competition has expanded in recent years to feature trans and non-binary contestants and AFAB queens, but apart from a few short instances, Drag Race has completely excluded drag kings.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy at BBC Radio 2 in the Park, Michelle addressed the calls, stating that she wants it to happen as well.

"I would love it, I would love it!" she said. "Drag is for everybody, fingers crossed, let's do it!"

UK series 3 contestant Victoria Scone has been one of the most vocal in calling for drag kings, and walked the runway as alter-ego Victor Stone on Canada versus the World.

In a previous Digital Spy interview, the Cardiff-based queen said: "Diversity is just always going to be a plus in every sense. It brings variety to performance as well as the fact that everyone deserves a seat at the table... I just don't know why it's taken so long at this point to be honest."

All Stars 2 winner Alaska echoed the sentiment, stating in another Digital Spy exclusive chat that: "I would love to see a drag king on Drag Race. Let's see what happens. Why not? I think that Drag Race will continue to evolve because it's what they've always done."

In our interview with Michelle, she also addressed why people like her fellow Radio 2 host Rylan and occasional stand-in host Joe Lycett haven't been guest judges on Drag Race UK yet, explaining that: "Schedule has a lot to do with it, people do have work. We have X days to film and if they can't make it they can't make it, but we'd love them."

She also named Jennifer Saunders as her most-wanted Drag Race UK guest judge (possibly doing her Madonna impression, if the real Madonna won't do it), and stated that every guest judge has done the show because they are a fan, and not just for the money.

Drag Race UK series 5 begins September 28 on BBC Three and iPlayer. BBC Radio 2 in the Park performances can also be watched via iPlayer, while Michelle Visage's Radio 2 shows can be listened to on Friday nights or on demand via BBC Sounds.
