Ru Paul's Drag Race star Yara Sofia has shared a health update after a recent illness left her in the hospital.

The drag queen, best known as a competitor on Drag Race season 3, All Stars 1 and All Stars 6, revealed she took a trip to the emergency room after contracting a virus "straight from hell".

However, after arriving at the hospital, things managed to go even further downhill, as she revealed in a detailed update of her experiences.

Taking to Instagram to update fans on her health, the Drag Race star shared a photo of her arm, which appeared to be hooked up to a drip.

"Approx a week and a half ago I started to feel ill… I couldn't keep food in my stomach between severe diarrhoea and vomit my body rejected everything," she wrote, alongside the image. "I was so dehydrated I fainted, fell flat on my face, shat my pants all at the same time… I was like 'THIS IS IT'.

"Hours later somehow I found some strength in me, got up, cleaned up and went to ER… Doctor said that I had a MF Demon Virus that Came Straight From Hell and it's having a MF party in my stomach (he didn't say it like that, that’s just how I heard it)."

Yara confirmed the medical team at the hospital administered antibiotics, an IV drip and some "special diets" to get her back on the mend.

However, despite initially improving, her time in the hospital was far from over.

"I got better almost a week after," she continued. "Finished treatment next morning. Woke up feeling great but I noticed half my face was completely swollen looking like the Jigsaw from the movie Saw."

Yara explained that it was found the swelling was a result of an allergic reaction to some of the medicine she was given.

Thankfully, the Drag Race star has confirmed she was treated for that reaction, is now "back to normal" and feels ready to return to work.

"Thank you to those who were there for me and literally saved my life!!!!! You know who you are," Yara added.

"My unsolicited advice to y'all is you can have EVERYTHING but if you don't have your HEALTH as priority in your life you are F***ED!!"
