Drew Scott Says He and 'Rockstar Mom' Linda Phan Are 'Super Excited' About New Baby (Exclusive)
The couple announced that they are expecting their second child in an Instagram post on Jan. 22
Drew Scott can’t help but gush about his wife and mother-of-two to-be.
Days after announcing that he and Linda Phan are expecting their second child together, the HGTV star spoke to PEOPLE on the red carpet at the Environmental Media Awards Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday, and shared that the couple is delighted that their family is growing.
“We are super excited. Linda is a rockstar mom already,” Scott, 45, tells PEOPLE.
He’s also excited to see their son Parker, 20, months “be a big bro.”
“I love seeing Linda as a mom, and the idea of having a couple of kiddos running around is pretty cool. I have siblings, and so for Parker to have a sibling too is pretty cool.”
As for how aware the toddler is of the changes to come, Scott says, “I think he knows something. If we say, ‘Where's the baby?,’ he puts his hand on his belly. So he knows something, but I don't know if he quite gets it yet.”
The couple are also waiting to find out the baby’s gender until Phan gives birth, which they also did with Parker. “We don't actually know if it's going to be a boy or girl, so it's going to be a surprise.”

When asked if he models positive environmentalism for his little boy, Scott explains that the wider family helps by all having the same "environmentally focused" approach.
"I think it's just little things. It's really great too because we have a lot of time with family, Jonathan [Scott] , Zooey [Deschanel], and the kids," Drew explains. His brother Jonathan co-parents Zooey Deschanel's two children — 6-year-old son Charlie and 7-year-old daughter Elsie — alongside the actress, 43, and her ex-husband Jacob Pechenik.
"My parents are here. Linda's mom, and then Linda's sister lives in the neighborhood too with her kids. So whenever we're doing stuff, we're all very environmentally focused," Drew adds, also sharing that the family doesn't use single-use plastics and composts.
Which has led to Drew's little boy picking up some excellent habits, quite literally.
"So Parker, well, if he sees something on the ground, he's only 20 months old, he'll run over and get it and he'll go over to the recycling or garbage can, depending on what it is, and he'll put it in. And to me, that's funny because... at that age, I would eat the dirt," he jokes.
The couple announced that they’re expecting in a sweet joint Instagram post earlier this month.
“Round 2👶,” they wrote in the caption of the photo, which saw Parker touching Phan’s growing belly. “I hope Parker’s ready for a lil company❤️❤️.”

The Property Brothers star previously opened up to his brother Jonathan about the challenges of parenting, as the two got candid for a Father's Day interview on their website.
"I was back in school finishing my Executive MBA and I had to fly out to Boston two months after Parker was born for two weeks," Drew recalled. "The early stages of being born is a tough time to leave a parent solo."
While Phan "was good at letting me know what she needed to tackle everything, but after doing that it made me understand how easy it could be to just let Linda take the reins on everything Parker — I'm at work all day and she's with him, so it's easy for me to forget that I'm a parent here too and I have certain responsibilities."
He continued, "The real, open dialogue between Linda and me is a huge part of me being a better dad because she'll give me a slight reminder if I'm not doing something I promised to do. It's not just about the baby, it's also about your communication with your partner."
