Dunkin’s Halloween donut looks very different from ad: ‘Nothing could’ve prepared me’
A customer couldn’t believe how different this new Dunkin’ Donuts treat looks from the ads.
On Oct. 12, Dunkin’ announced a few seasonal additions to its menu. It included the Peanut Butter Cup Macchiato, Spider Donut and the “Dunk-o-Lantern” donut.
When TikToker @deee_2525 ordered the Dunk-o-Lantern, it looked hilariously different than the product photo. Dunkin’ describes the treat as a “pumpkin-shaped donut shell filled with vanilla-flavored butter crème filling, topped with orange icing, and a classic Jack-o’-lantern grin.”
“I just wanted a nice jack-o-lantern donut,” the caption read.
The video begins with the product photo of the donut from Dunkin’. It looked like a pumpkin-shaped glazed donut with orange frosting and a jack-o’-lantern face in chocolate piping.
While “what I ordered versus what I got” is a common internet meme, even TikTok was stunned by how different the real donut looked.
It was an orange, oval-shaped donut. The mouth was a thick smudge of chocolate frosting. But the eyes weren’t black like in the stock photo; they were little orange pumpkin candies embedded in the donut. It was definitely appropriately spooky for the season.
The official Dunkin’ TikTok replied, “Okay I like it Picasso,” to which the TikToker said, “Still love you guys,” with a laughing emoji.

The hilarious video racked up 1.8 million views on the app.
“I was so prepared to be like THE WORKER DID THEIR BEST and then I saw it,” a TikToker wrote.
“Nothing could’ve prepared me for what I just saw,” another added.
“I laughed so hard I scared every animal in my house,” a person responded.
“This actually makes me want to go and see what I get lol,” someone said.
“As a former Dunkin baker who got precisely two days of training, this donut checks out,” a user commented.
