Dying Light 2’s New Nightmare Mode Is Now Live
Although it’s not as much in the limelight these days, Techland‘s 2022 zombie survival horror sequel Dying Light 2 is still going strong. As of now, if you decide you want much more of a challenge against hordes of the undead, a new Nightmare Mode has just been released.
Update also adds “small, yet significant, changes”
A teaser for the latest update shows a confident – if not outright cocky – player approaching a sewer area, tapping their melee weapon on the ground. The echoes of metal against concrete alert a horde to their location, signifying the intensity of Nightmare Mode.
As you can imagine, the new difficulty setting will really put Dying Light 2 skills to the test. If you want to know what’s in-store, you can look forward to playing with slower stamina regeneration, limited HUD, a flickering flashlight, harder-hitting enemies, and more. Going into the menu also no longer pauses the game.
On top of all this, update 1.16 also comes with a host of other tweaks and changes. Feel free to check out the full patch notes. Some of the adjustments include lowering the number of Volatiles and nerfing them slightly, improvements to cutscenes, a main menu redesign, and some bug fixes.
It’s a pretty big update by the looks of things, but it’s the Nightmare Mode that will likely draw the most attention.
When it released in February 2022, Dying Light 2 was met with decent scores and reviews. Many noted the improved parkour system when compared to the first game, though the sequel did launch with an egregious amount of bugs and glitches.
