Eamonn Holmes has said he is "not okay" following his split from Ruth Langsford.

It was announced last month that the former This Morning presenters are set to divorce after 14 years of marriage.

A statement released on the couple's behalf said: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

Speaking to The Mirror at The Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) Awards last night (June 25), Eamonn opened up about the separation and the impact it's had on him.

"I'm not okay. This is not a good time at all," he said.

When asked about whether the pair will keep in touch going forward, Eamonn added: "It's too early to say, but I hope we can still be friends."

The presenter previously addressed the split while hosting on GB News, where he took a moment to thank viewers for their support.

"I'd just like to thank people for your support for Ruth and I over the last few days as to the news of our separation," he said, adding: "Your support for both of us is very appreciated."

Eamonn and Ruth first began dating back in 1996, before officially tying the knot in 2010. They share a son named Jack together, who they welcomed in 2002.

The duo have presented a number of TV programmes together over the years, including How the Other Half Lives and Do the Right Thing with Eamonn and Ruth. They have also appeared together on Celebrity Gogglebox.

The pair are perhaps best known for presenting This Morning's Friday instalment, having started in 2006 before being replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary in 2021.

Eamonn later criticised ITV over his axe, claiming that he wasn't told why he and Ruth were leaving the show.

"They didn't want to announce that I'd been dropped because it would adversely affect audience figures, so they made it look as if I'd walked away from them rather than the other way round," he claimed during an interview with the Daily Mail.

ITV later denied Eamonn's accusations, telling Digital Spy: "This isn't a version of events that we recognise."

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
