EastEnders airs cast member exit in Wednesday's episode

EastEnders spoilers follow from Wednesday's episode (June 28), which is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

EastEnders has aired exit scenes for Finlay Baker in the show's latest episode (June 28).

Ashley Byam has left the role of Finlay after a year on the BBC soap.

Finlay made an enemy of the Panesar family in recent scenes, following Vinny's failed revenge plan on Eve Unwin.

Vinny tampered with the brakes on Finlay's car, aware that Eve was due to drive it to Brighton.

Although Suki intervened, Finlay was understandably spooked after learning of the incident, and initially wondered why Vinny would want to harm him in the first place.

After confronting Suki over this, Finlay soon realised that the real target of the attack was Eve, leaving her panicked that their secret could soon become public knowledge.

Today's episode sees Finlay attempt to use the situation to his advantage by demanding money from Suki in exchange for leaving Walford.

Finlay threatened to reveal all to Eve if Suki did not comply. Spooked by the prospect, Suki eventually caved in to Finlay's demands.

Finlay later enjoyed a final drink with his family before saying farewell to Albert Square in his dad's old car.

Finlay's arrival in EastEnders was announced last June, alongside his brother Felix, played by Matthew Morrison, and their dad Avery (Omar Lye-Fook).

His first major storyline involved the terminal illness and subsequent death of Avery only a few weeks after he arrived on screen.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
