EastEnders aired a shock return for Dean Wicks in the show's latest episode.

The closing moments of Monday's visit to Walford, which is currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer, saw Dean approach Linda upstairs in The Vic.

Linda had been trying to distract herself from memories of Halloween with Mick by throwing a big party in the pub.

Things took a turn when Linda realised that George was hiding something from her and Elaine, prompting George to reveal that he's paid out 50% of the bar sale to Cindy. After a heart-to-heart with Linda, Elaine agreed to hear George out, and they were able to make amends.

Satisfied that everything was working itself out, Linda went to put Ollie to sleep, only to be confronted by Dean – who told her not to scream.

Tomorrow's episode (October 31) will explore this further, as Dean explains his reasons for returning and reveals his future plans.

Today's scenes also saw Dean unveiled as Cindy's silent business partner, much to the horror of her her husband Ian – who was quick to inform her of Dean's sinister past in the Square.

Fans had been aware that Linda would get a shock on Halloween, but Dean's return had been kept out of the spoilers beforehand.

News had leaked last weekend that Dean could be on his way back to Walford, after Matt Di Angelo, who plays him, was spotted in the background of an on-set picture.

The photo was screengrabbed from a cast member's montage of set pics on TikTok, sparking a frenzy online.

EastEnders didn't comment on the speculation, but it's now looking like Dean will play a major part in Linda's story in the lead-up to Christmas,

Dean hasn't been seen on screen since 2016, when he escaped justice for raping Linda Carter, and attempting to rape Roxy Mitchell.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
