EastEnders airs Denise outcome in early iPlayer release

EastEnders spoilers follow from Thursday's episode (February 22), which is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

EastEnders aired emotional scenes for Denise Fox and her family in Thursday's episode as she was taken to hospital for psychiatric help.

A major turning point in the ongoing storyline was revealed following Denise's dangerous drive on the road with her stepdaughter Amy.

Denise has been experiencing psychosis in recent weeks while struggling with the guilt of covering up her part in Keanu Taylor's death.

This week, there was another worrying turn of events as Denise headed off in a car with Amy, convinced that it was no longer safe for her to stay on Albert Square.

In the early scenes of Thursday's episode, Denise wandered along a road in the woods after driving to a remote location with Amy and then rushing off into the night. Meanwhile, Amy planned her own next move after being abandoned in the vehicle.

Denise's concerned husband Jack teamed up with Stacey Slater to track her down, finding the approximate location with help from Amy.

Amy was found first, so Stacey took the schoolgirl back to the Square while Jack continued to search for his missing wife.

When Jack finally came face-to-face with Denise, he was confused to realise that she was experiencing frightening hallucinations of Johnny Carter, somebody she hardly knows.

Denise begged Jack to protect her from the devil but he encouraged her to come home, insisting that it was the safest place for her.

Jack planned to look after Denise himself, but this idea was thwarted when two doctors and a mental health professional arrived at the house to assess Denise.

An upsetting moment followed for Jack and his family as Denise was sectioned and taken away in an ambulance.

Many of the Square's residents watched Denise as she was ushered out of the Branning house and into the ambulance – including the remaining members of The Six, who worried about what she might say to the mental health professionals.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
