EastEnders airs shock Knight revelation in early iPlayer release

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders aired a shocking discovery for George Knight in an extended special episode.

Wednesday's visit to Walford (February 14), which is already available to watch on BBC iPlayer, focused solely on the Knight family as they were forced to face up to some difficult truths.

George has been searching for answers ever since his parents Eddie and Gloria arrived in Walford after Christmas and told him how they'd adopted him as a child.

Eddie and Gloria were forced to explain how they had essentially bought him through a process known as baby farming, where children were illegally sold to couples.

George subsequently found out that his biological parents may not have been Jamaican as he'd been led to believe, but rather African migrants who'd had to give him up.

Eddie had always displayed prejudiced beliefs, which George did his best to brush off – despite his daughter Gina insisting that there was more to it.

Despite this, George has been left hopeful that his dad was keen to repair their fractured relationship after all this time, but was horrified to discover this week that Eddie had an ulterior motive.

George learned that Eddie was standing trial for a racially aggravated murder and wanted him to be a character witness.

George later experienced a profound recognition when he saw a photo of the man Eddie stands accused of killing – Henry Kofi Asare.

Needing answers, George summoned his parents to The Vic in Wednesday's scenes, where he insisted on talking alone with his dad.

George told him that he recognised the man who Eddie is accused of murdering, and during a painful confrontation began to finally unlock the truth.

Despite Eddie's angry retaliation, George bravely recalled the racism he had experienced throughout his childhood – and how Eddie had contributed to it.

The conversation sparked Gina and Anna, who were listening in at the door, to face some difficult realities of their own, while Gloria did her best to explain herself to Elaine upstairs.

When the situation between George and Eddie turned violent, Gloria emerged to reveal a shocking secret.

"He did it because I love you, because I didn't want to say goodbye", Gloria said.

"I couldn't let you go, it was my fault. He wanted to take you back with him."

Gloria then revealed that Henry Kofi Asare was actually George’s birth father, but what will this mean for George now?

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
