EastEnders airs two more exits in early iPlayer release

EastEnders spoilers follow from Thursday's episode, which is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer. This article contains storyline details that some viewers may prefer to avoid, as this episode hasn't yet aired on TV.

EastEnders aired two more exits in the show's latest episode (January 25) as Kim Fox and Howie Danes said their goodbyes.

Recent episodes have seen the couple prepare to take a temporary break from Walford, after Howie was offered the opportunity of a lifetime on a cruise.

Kim planned to go with him but had a last-minute wobble due to her ongoing concerns for sister Denise.

Denise hasn't been coping since the shocking events of Christmas Day, and everything that has unfolded since.

As she prepared to leave the Square with Howie, Kim tried to talk to Denise about her mental health and reasoned that she might be experiencing PTSD after witnessing Nish nearly die in front of her.

However, when Kim later mentioned Christmas in passing, it triggered Denise and she had to rush off, leaving Kim more worried than ever.

Because of this, Kim made the difficult decision not to leave after all, despite Denise's claims that she was simply struggling with her fragile marriage to Jack.

Kim then prepared to say an emotional goodbye to Howie, but Denise turned up at the eleventh hour and insisted her sister went as well.

A delighted Kim and Howie then said their final farewells and headed off.

In real life, the pair's breaks are to facilitate separate projects they have been doing outside of their EastEnders commitments.

Delroy Atkinson, who plays Howie, appeared in panto at Chatham’s Central Theatre over Christmas, where he played the part of Abanazar in Aladdin.

Tameka Empson (Kim), meanwhile, has been appearing in The Big Life musical at the Theatre Royal Stratford East.

Explaining Kim and Howie's break during an appearance on The One Show earlier this week, Tameka said: "Kim's gonna be okay! She's gonna be okay - she's going on a nice cruise with Howie and the children. She's going to be enjoying herself. She'll be fine!"

The Big Life is running from Friday, February 16 until Saturday, March 30, 2024, with tickets available to buy on Theatre Royal Stratford East's website.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
