EastEnders' Alfie Moon upsets Tommy with break from Walford
EastEnders spoilers follow.
After battling with his prostate cancer diagnosis and the treatment that followed, things are set to get more difficult for Alfie Moon as he upsets his son Tommy by taking a break from Walford.
Recent episodes of EastEnders have seen Alfie try to keep his diagnosis a secret from his loved ones, only for him to find support in his ex-wife Kat Slater and her new fiancé, Phil Mitchell.
As he undergoes further treatment, there's set to be more upset in the Moon household ahead of Tommy's debut boxing match in upcoming episodes.
On the day of the fight, Tommy is worrying about whether or not his father will turn up to watch him. Phil makes a promise that Alfie will be there and makes his way to the hospital to bring him to The Boxing Den.

However, following his operation, Alfie is in a bad way and tells Phil that he needs time to rest and recuperate in Spain. It's now Phil's time to worry as he is unsure how to break the news to Tommy, unaware that the youngster has overheard everything.
Tommy lashes out and Phil and calls him a Liar, with Kat being left to reassure Tommy that his dad will be back soon. Unfortunately, after being let down by Alfie so many time in the past, Tommy doesn't believe her.
Ahead of the heartbreaking storyline, Alfie actor Shane Richie spoke to Digital Spy about preparing for the difficult subject matter and scenes.
"The luxury of doing a show like EastEnders is the level of research. The team work so hard to make sure what we're putting on screen is as accurate as possible and it's great to have access to amazing charities like Macmillan Cancer Support and Prostate Cancer UK, who EastEnders put me in contact with, as it's been so helpful to be able to talk with survivors and people who have gone through this.

"Since the story has gone out, I have been inundated with people private messaging me on social media. Even last weekend I was at a festival, a woman backstage pulled me to one side and said: 'Thank you so much, I want you to thank everybody at EastEnders for finally shining a light on this'.
"If Alfie's story can make one mum, one daughter, or one sister say to their family: 'You know what, you're at an age now, why don't you just go and get checked?', and if it just saves one life, then look what we've done."
