EastEnders confirms permanent Mo Harris return – with a twist

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has confirmed that Laila Morse will be returning on a full-time basis as Mo Harris... and she's not coming back alone.

The legendary soap star will be reappearing in Albert Square as part of a storyline to reintroduce Freddie Slater following Bobby Brazier's break for Strictly Come Dancing.

Before Mo and great-grandson Freddie return on-screen, fans can expect a digital spin-off series made exclusively for TikTok that will follow the pair travelling in Mo's caravan.

The exact reasoning for Mo and Freddie's return remains to be seen, but they will certainly spice up an already dramatic spring for the Slater family.

"We are absolutely delighted to welcome back Laila Morse to the role of Mo Harris," producer Chris Clenshaw said.

"Although her time away from the Square has been short-lived, the Slater family has endured a huge amount of drama since she last appeared on screen and Mo’s return will be no different. We’re delighted to welcome Laila back permanently as she is thrust into the heart of the drama alongside great-grandson Freddie."

Mo's most recent full-time stint came to an end in 2021 when she left for a cruise with love interest Fat Elvis, though she's since come back briefly for Kat and Phil's first wedding ceremony.

"I’m delighted to be coming home to Walford to bring Mo back to life," Laila said. "EastEnders holds such a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to be reunited with my on screen family, who are like my family, as well as old and new faces."

Her co-star Bobby recently clarified that he'd started back filming on EastEnders after his Strictly tour break.

His return with Laila will be airing this spring.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
