EastEnders confirms Rocky's sentence in early iPlayer episode

EastEnders spoilers follow from Friday's second episode, which is available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.

EastEnders has confirmed Rocky Cotton's fate following his exit from the show.

Brian Conley made his final appearance in the role late last year, but there was an update on Rocky's court case in the show's latest episode.

The second episode from this Friday's double bill (March 1) has been released on BBC iPlayer. The online and BBC One airings are out of sync this week due to live football coverage.

In Friday's second episode, Sonia Fowler and Elaine Peacock try to distract Rocky's struggling wife Kathy as she prepares to hear about Rocky's sentencing.

The pair treat Kathy to a boozy brunch in the hope that it will cheer her up.

Sonia and Elaine's efforts do the trick, but only until Kathy receives a call to let her know that Rocky was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The revelation sparks fresh tensions between The Six, as Kathy appears to be regretting her decision to report Rocky for the fire he started at the café in an insurance scam.

Kathy made this drastic move under pressure from her co-conspirators, as Rocky was getting too close to the truth over Keanu Taylor's death at Christmas.

Since then, however, Linda Carter has told her son Johnny all about Keanu's death and the subsequent cover-up. Meanwhile, Stacey Slater has told Jack Branning that his wife Denise Fox attacked Nish Panesar during the violent showdown at the pub that night.

In a quiet chat at The Vic, Linda assures Kathy: "I know it's hard, but it's for the best. You did the right thing."

Kathy replies: "Oh, like you did the right thing getting rid of the thermometer? Only you didn't, did you? And now look where it's left us."

Addressing Johnny, she adds: "And did she [Linda] do the right thing telling you? Did Stacey do the right thing telling Jack? And who do I get to tell? No-one."

Brian Conley recently confirmed that he'd be open to an EastEnders return in the future, but not anytime soon as he's concentrating on other projects.

He told the Swindon Advertiser: "I am in prison so I haven't died and that's a nice thought. I could get off with good behaviour."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
