EastEnders' John Partridge on possible comeback amid Roxy Mitchell return

EastEnders alum John Partridge has opened up about a potential to guest appearance on the soap if Rita Simons' Roxy Mitchell returned to the show full-time.

Partridge played Christian Clarke from 2008 to 2012 (with guest appearance from 2014 to 2016) while Roxy was killed off in 2017. However, Roxy returned recently in an imagined interaction with her on-screen daughter Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd).

Partridge spoke to Radio Times about potentially returning to the series if Simons did so full-time. Their characters were very close and shared a fun-loving friendship viewers adored.

"Well, listen, they’ve done it before. They’ve risen people from the dead before so you never know, do you?" Partridge said.

"I think if Rita did make a miraculous recovery, I do think that for Christian it would be his duty to have one final rock 'n' roll. I think he would have to come back from Birmingham, he’d have to leave his retail job in the Bullring [shopping centre].

"I’m pretty sure that’s where he is, probably working for Jo Malone or The White Company in the Bullring - living his full retail fantasy," he said.

Partridge said that while there is a "shelf-life" to characters, he would "never say never" as an actor, leaving the door open to a potential return.

"I tell you what though, I can still rock that vest. Don’t get it twisted, Christian can still rock a tight pair of jeans and a vest, even at 52," Partridge joked.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
