EastEnders' Phil Mitchell catches out Keanu and Karen over kidnapping ruse

EastEnders spoilers follow.

Phil Mitchell has finally caught out Keanu and Karen Taylor over their kidnapping ruse in EastEnders.

Monday's (December 4) episode saw Phil get some actual proof that Keanu and Karen had pocketed the ransom money he'd given to Sharon to bring Albie home last month.

Phil first became suspicious when he saw Karen flashing cash in the Vic, then got some evidence when Mitch Baker accidentally crashed his taxi into Harvey Monroe's van.

Mitch had been distraught because of his failed attempts to convince Karen and Keanu to come clean about their phoney kidnapping.

Kat Mitchell was furious over the damage done to one of her cabs as well as her employee's negligence, so she ordered Mitch to pay for the repair.

Once Karen found out, she approached Kat privately to secretly settle the debt with some of the cash she'd stolen from Kat's husband Phil.

Phil had a look at the cash Karen had forked over, discovering they were the same marked bills he'd used for the ransom. When he approached Kat with his theory, she demanded more proof.

"That money I gave Sharon to get Albie back, I marked it. This, this is my money," he insisted.

Phil then promised: "I'll get proof."

He turned to his sister Sam Mitchell for some "concrete proof" that Keanu staged the kidnapping, and she soon returned with a "smoking gun" — a photo of Albie taken a day after he supposedly went missing.

As he stared at the photo, Phil warned: "Gotcha!"

Viewers know that Lorraine Stanley will be leaving the Square as Karen Taylor in the near future. Will Phil's discovery lead to her downfall?

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
