Sam Mitchell has caught out Amy Mitchell as EastEnders' self-harm storyline continues.

The soap started this important issue-based storyline a few weeks back, as Amy turned to self-harm after rumours were spread in school about her sleeping with boyfriend Denzel Danes.

Tuesday's episode (November 14) saw Amy at odds with Denzel, best mate Lily Slater and Nugget Gulati, after Nugget tried to make amends for his part in spreading the gossip.

Amy was so traumatised by the situation that she later returned home to self-harm once again. The teen had no idea Sam Mitchell was stopping by with a dress for Amy to borrow.

Sam has been trying to ingratiate herself within the Branning family once again so she used her old set of keys to let herself into the house.

When Sam entered Amy's bedroom to drop off the dress, she was horrified to see what the young girl was doing. Sam ran out at first, but later returned and offered to help her clean up.

"This is serious, Amy," Sam told her, with the girl explaining: "It's just what I do."

While Sam was disturbed to learn this wasn't the first time Amy had done this, the teen swore Sam to secrecy and even invited her to join the family for her birthday dinner at the Vic.

Meanwhile, Jack was annoyed that his daughter was late and grew even more agitated when Amy showed up with Sam intending to join them for the meal.

The tension between Sam and Jack boiled over when she confronted him in the toilets. Jack was in the middle of berating Sam for her attempts to get close to him when she stopped him.

"It's Amy. I walked in on her and she's really struggling," Sam tried to explain.

Jack ordered her to stop interfering in his life, so Sam blurted out: "She's cutting herself!"

Amy was standing outside the door watching as the realisation of his daughter's struggles washed over Jack's face.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
