EastEnders stars past and present are set to put their knowledge to the test in a special episode of The Weakest Link, as the quiz show returns for a new series.

The BBC has confirmed that eight EastEnders actors will be quizzed by host Romesh Ranganathan in the first episode of the new series, which will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday (November 18) at 5.55pm.

Viewers will see actors Natalie Cassidy (Sonia Fowler), Kellie Bright (Linda Carter) Brian Conley (Rocky Cotton), Ross Boatman (Harvey Monroe), Tony Clay (Callum Highway), Lorraine Stanley (Karen Taylor) and Delroy Atkinson (Howie Danes), as well as former EastEnders star Danielle Harold (Lola Pearce-Brown), answering quickfire questions.

Who will impress with their general knowledge and bank up to £50,000 for their chosen charity, and who will be taking the dreaded Walk of Shame after being named the Weakest Link by their fellow players?

Viewers can expect plenty of EastEnders references in the special episode, with host Romesh set to drop lines including "Who thinks Dot Cotton is what you type at the end of an email address?", "Who thinks Sharon Watts is a unit of electricity?" and "Who thinks Wellard is the difficulty of these questions?"

One star who will be feeling particularly nervous under the lights is Tony Clay, who admits to Romesh that he feels "intense and clammy" - leading Romesh to make a Tinder joke.

Other celebrities due to feature in the series include former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan (Rosie Webster), Love Island winner Ekin-su Cülcüloğlu and JLS singer JB Gill.

Viewers can also expect to see a host of Strictly Come Dancing contestants from across the years, including Harry Judd, Alex Jones, Nikita Kanda, Stacey Dooley and Krishnan Guru-Murthy, as well as current pro Dianne Buswell.

Host Romesh said of the new series: "I'm genuinely delighted to be hosting this iconic show once again. It's the best series we've done so far and although I would still say that if it wasn't true, it really is."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
