EastEnders star Aaron Thiara responds to Ravi Gulati death theories

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders star Aaron Thiara has responded to fan theories that his character Ravi Gulati will meet his untimely end at Christmas.

Earlier this year, EastEnders made history when it aired its first-ever flashforward scene giving fans a preview of the Christmas Day episode. In the flashforward sequence, Sharon, Linda, Stacey, Denise, Suki, and Kathy could all be seen standing over the dead body of a Walford resident.

Following the episode, fan theories surrounding the identity of the unknown victim were rife, with many suggesting that Phil Mitchell is the dead man.

Talking to Inside Soap, Thiara said that fans have pointed the finger in Ravi's direction too, considering the enemies he's made during his time on the soap.

"I can't escape the fan theories. The comments have been lovely though – people say: 'No, you can't be the body on the floor! But Ravi has lots of enemies, and plenty of characters want to see the back of him," he said.

Teasing fans with even more drama, Thiara said: "What I will say is there's a lot to come in the next few months, and it goes up a notch in terms of what that might mean for Ravi in the lead-up to Christmas."

During the last few months alone Ravi has landed Sharon's partner Keanu in the hospital, and been exposed for having an affair with Denise, making the villain a prime target for the ladies' revenge.

Speaking about being nominated for the Villain of the Year award at the British Soap Awards, Aaron said: "It's strange because I don't see Ravi as an out-and-out villain, though he's done villainous things.

"He has many different faces and shades to him, and there are reasons why he's doing these things though that doesn't justify it. We really wanted to strike on the note of a character that you love to hate."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
