EastEnders star Danny Dyer lands next TV role
EastEnders star Danny Dyer has landed his next TV gig following his exit as Mick Carter.
He's set to appear in the new BBC Two comedy Henpocalypse! from writer Caroline Moran. The series tells the story of West Midlander and "bridezilla" Zara, whose hen do in a remote cottage in Wales is rudely interrupted by the apocalypse.
Armed only with a car full of hen do paraphernalia, Zara and her bridesmaids must attempt to survive as human civilisation breaks down. Upon realising that almost all of the world's male population has been eradicated, the hens must then battle it out with a group of radicalised Pilates instructors.

In the comedy, Dyer is set to play a fictionalised version of himself who appears to one of the Birmingham bridesmaids as "mentor and counsellor".
"As the nation's favourite geezer, Danny Dyer made a big impression on socially awkward Birmingham bridesmaid, Jen," the press release for Henpocalypse! reads.
"So when she finds herself in a brutal post-apocalyptic world, it's Danny Dyer who comes to her in her moment of crisis. Taking on the role of mentor and counsellor, he provides sage advice, psychological insight and weapons training, setting her on the path to her true destiny."

Speaking of his upcoming role, Dyer said: "When I saw the pilot for Henpocalypse!, I pi***ed myself laughing and I was so honoured to be asked to be a part of such an amazing job. You're all gonna f*****g love it — it's hilarious."
Back in December, Dyer exited EastEnders in dramatic fashion when his character Mick was lost at sea after his wife Linda got into a spat with Janine Butcher and he attempted to save her.
Starring alongside Dyer in Henpocalypse! are Elizabeth Berrington as the mother of the bride, Lucie Shorthouse as bridezilla Zara, Callie Cooke as chief bridesmaid Shelly, Lauren O’Rourke as beautician Veena and Kate O'Flynn as Jen.
Speaking of the series, writer Caroline Moran said: "This is a dream cast, the locations are epic, the apocalypse has never been so much fun."
Henpocalypse! doesn't yet have a release date.
