EastEnders star Danny Walters admits cast are "nervous" over death mystery

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders star Danny Walters has admitted that the soap's male cast members are "nervous" about the flashforward death, as any of them could be in the firing line.

Earlier this year, the BBC show kicked off a mystery death storyline after showing a scene taking place during Christmas 2023, as Sharon, Linda, Stacey, Suki, Kathy and Denise stand over the lifeless body of an unseen man.

Speaking about the mystery and whether it could be his character Keanu Taylor who meets his end, Walters told the Radio Times that "nobody knows who it is" at the moment.

"I'm sure somebody knows, we're not winging it, but everyone has their theories and sometimes I have a theory, and then a couple weeks later I might get some new scripts and that might debunk my theory or change my theory. I'm being a little mini-investigator as I go along!"

"It's interesting and it's very fun," the star added. "It's not just getting us talking, it's getting the fans talking, and I think that's what fans love doing.

"I think it's really smart storytelling that Chris Clenshaw is using as it's got us all talking, but at the same time, it's got every male actor nervous as to whether they've got a job next year or not!"

Addressing whether he's worried it could be him, Walters said: "I can't say, I can't tease!"

It comes after fellow star Brian Conley (Rocky Cotton) confirmed that they will film multiple endings for the death scene in order to keep the reveal from leaking out.

"None of us have got a clue [who the victim is]," he told Steph’s Packed Lunch. "I believe leading up to Christmas, there might be ten of us laying there so that it will be a big surprise to us as well.

"We're all going to maybe film a moment where we're all laying on the floor, and then right up until the last minute, they can reveal on Christmas Day who it is."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
