EastEnders star Kellie Bright says they filmed two endings for flashforward scene

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders star Kellie Bright has revealed they filmed the soap's shock flashforward scene twice to help preserve the mystery.

On last night's (February 20) anniversary special, viewers saw Kellie's character Linda Carter alongside Stacey Slater, Sharon Watts, Denise Fox, Suki Panesar and Kathy Beale come together for a pub lock-in, before the soap flashed forward to Christmas 2023.

The group were there faced with a dead body – though who exactly has met their end remains a mystery for now.

Appearing on today's (February 21) This Morning, Kellie spoke about filming the scenes and being in the dark themselves as actors.

"When we filmed that flashforward, we weren't told very much at all," she explained. "One of the things you can't really see on that is that I had a split lip… I don't know why, I don't know how I've ended up with a split lip."

Kellie went on to confirm that a body double was used as the corpse, meaning the actors were none the wiser too, and that Sharon actress Letitia Dean filmed her line twice so as to not spoil the gender of the dead character.

"When we filmed it, they actually made Tish film it two ways – so we had a 'he's dead' and a 'she's dead'. So watching it last night was the first time I was like, 'oh, it is a man!'" Kellie admitted.

Speculating further about who has died, the actress mused: "I think it could be either [somebody already established or someone we've not met yet].

"You can imagine, we've all gone right round the houses of who we think it could be. I think there's going to be lots and lots of red herrings."

She added of the storyline: "I'm really excited. I was really excited when I first heard about it, I was really like, 'Oh my goodness!' And then watching it live last night, I was really excited as well."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
