EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley announces her engagement

Congratulations are in order, as EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley has announced her engagement to long-term partner Mark Perez.

The actress, who is best known for her role as Karen Taylor in beloved BBC1 soap, shared the happy news with her 170,000 followers on Instagram.

Lorraine shared a collage of the couple's time together alongside an ecstatic caption, which reads: "Almost 10 years with you, I can now call you my Fiancé! I can’t wait to marry you Mark Perez, I love you and Nancy so much!!!!!

"Xxx us forever xxx new chapter #engaged #mylove #MrsPerez #love #marriage #weddingbells Xxxx #loveisintheair," she concluded alongside a heart, engagement ring and kiss emojis.

The sweet collage included pictures of Lorraine and her husband-to-be in happy moments with family members and their travels together.

Friends and fans were quick to share their congratulations, including Lorraine's EastEnders co-stars such as Max Bowden, who commented: "Best family", while her former colleague Danielle Harold wrote: "Ahhh so excited love you both."

Clair Hayley Norris, who plays Bernie Taylor in the soap also shared her joy at the news. "Congratulations to you both & Nancy!! Love you all," she penned, alongside some love heart emoji faces.

Emmerdale actress and Celebrity Masterchef 2023 contestant Amy Walsh also commented on Lorraine's post. "Congratulations beautiful!!!," she wrote.

Lorraine also shared her exciting news on her Instagram story, uploading an image of her and Mark looking loved up.

"Love you baby!!" she captioned the snap, along with an engagement ring and love heart emoji.

The soap star additionally confirmed that she was the one to pop the question in a follow-up Instagram story.

"Yep, I proposed to him on his birthday 25/6/23.... and I know it's not a leap year, and I didn't plan it, it was the most impulsive thing I've done to date, but it felt like the perfect moment," read the message.

Lorraine and her new fiancé have been together for over nine years, and the happy couple share a daughter together called Nancy and a dog named Betty.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
