EastEnders star Navin Chowdhry confirms plans for Nish Panesar's future

EastEnders star Navin Chowdhry has opened up on his villainous character Nish Panesar's future amidst his new romance with Kat Slater.

Nish was nearly killed during the hotly anticipated, eventful Christmas episode, being hit on the head with a bottle by Denise Fox moments before Linda Carter stabbed Keanu Taylor to death to defend Sharon Watts.

As Nish is slowly getting back his memory after the attack, he's been threatening his wife Suki to hand over her shares of the business or he'll go to the police, teasing an "exciting" journey ahead for his baddie.

"We've been speaking with the execs and the writers about the journey over the next six months," he told The Sun.

"Genuinely we are on the same page and it sounds really exciting," he continued.

"We all have our chats about what's going on and when I had my chat about what's going to be happening with Nish, it's really what I wanted to hear.

"It's exciting the journey ahead, but we still have to film it, so let's see what happens."

Commenting on the romantic twist involving him and Kat, Chowdhry admitted it was "a surprise" for both him and Jessie Wallace, who plays Kat.

"It was a surprise, but again it's something that will goes places," he said.

"I think there's not many opponents that he's faced that will give him a run for his money.

"If ever there is somebody in addition to Suki... it could be Kat."

Chowdhry then promised a big week for Nish at the end of February, with storylines focused on his character as well as Suki and Kat.

"You have to watch the next two weeks, towards the end of Feb there is a very significant week of episodes which focuses a lot on Suki and Kat and the Panesars and what it might mean sort of for the future," he said.

"So there is something quite big coming up."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
