EastEnders star William Ellis has shared a message with fans following his character Theo's shock attack on Stacey Slater.

In scenes that aired earlier this week, Theo's sinister obsession with Stacey took a horrifying turn when he broke into the Slater house while she was home alone and attempted to rape her.

Stacey was soon saved by Freddie, who was arrested for attempted murder after he violently attacked Theo in a fit of rage.

Although Freddie was eventually released on bail, Theo woke up in the hospital and gave a statement that threatens to lock Freddie up.

Ellis, who plays Theo, opened up about the shocking week of episodes in a video posted to Instagram, where he thanked viewers for their ongoing support and praised the soap's cast and crew.

"Can I just come on here and say a massive thank you to everyone for your overwhelming messages of support for this week on EastEnders, the really, really tricky stuff that we shot. It’s so lovely to see you all so invested in it," he said.

The actor continued: "It wasn’t easy this week and it was my privilege to be able to work with the likes of Lacey Turner and Bobby Brazier, who are just outstanding, they’re smashing it out of the park at the moment.

"It’s a real honour to be part of the show, especially when it’s in the place it's in at the moment.

"It's absolutely fizzing and that’s thanks to the great writing and Chris [Clenshaw] at the top steering the ship. So thank you all and I’ll see you soon."
