EastEnders’ Yolande to struggle after assault in baptism drama

EastEnders’ Yolande Trueman is set to struggle at next week’s baptism, following her recent trauma.

In April, Yolande was sexually assaulted by Pastor Clayton, and last month she bravely opened up to her husband Patrick about her ordeal, in an emotional two-hander episode.

She also told church official Levi about the horrific incident and he promised to investigate straight away, although the process was slow.

However, when Yolande and Patrick return from a holiday later this week, they find out that Levi has left Walford – leaving Yolande concerned that the Pastor will face no consequences.

In scenes that will air next week, preparations are in full swing for Jordan’s baptism, and Yolande and Patrick will play an important role, as Chelsea has asked them to be godparents.

But worried that the event will be too difficult for her, Patrick tries to convince Yolande to skip the baptism – though she is adamant that she will be present at the important occasion.

Later, Yolande is annoyed when she finds out that Patrick tried to meddle with Chelsea’s plans and the couple share a heated exchange.

Elaine, who Yolande told about the assault on the night it took place, gives Yolande some advice and some much needed confidence.

But this doesn’t last long, as Yolande then comes face-to-face with Pastor Clayton and his wife outside the community centre.

On the day of the baptism, Yolande is anxious, but she thankfully has Patrick by her side for support.

At the church, Denise notices something is up with Yolande, and she attempts to speak to her separately to get to the bottom of things.

Later, Bernie arrives at the church and bumps into Yolande while she is praying. After the pair have an emotional conversation about bravery, Yolande decides to go ahead with the baptism as planned.

But it soon gets too much, when Yolande shouts at Pastor Clayton before rushing out of the church. What will she do now?

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
