Eddie Cheung: I'm so sad I can never see Ringo Lam again!

25 Jan – Hong Kong actor Eddie Cheung couldn't help but shed a tear when the topic of filmmaker Ringo Lam came up during an appearance at a Lunar New Year event recently.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who worked with Lam on the movie, "Sky on Fire", stated that he would not be able to attend Lam's memorial on 26 January as he has already taken a job that will be filming that day.

"I really regret not being able to attend his funeral. I learned a lot from him, it's so sad that I cannot work with him again ever," he said.

Although he only spent a short time with Lam while filming the aforementioned film, Eddie said that he did have a great conversation with the filmmaker.

"He was the first director who taught me acting. People think he was strict and mean, but he was actually very funny and humorous. He was just very serious in his work," said Eddie.

The actor also admitted that Lam's death came as a shock to him, as he had planned to meet up with the filmmaker.

"I had wanted to have a dinner with him after my series wraps up, but he left so suddenly," he said.

Filmmaker Ringo Lam was declared dead after found unresponsive in his bed by his wife on 29 December 2018. He was 63.
