Eddie Cheung wins Best Actor award at San Diego

2 Jun – It was revealed that Eddie Cheung has won his first Best Leading Actor award at the San Diego Independent Film Festival, also known as San Diego IndieFest.

According to Mingpao, the actor, who was honoured with the accolade through his performance in "Twilight Online", received the news while in Guangzhou working on Johnnie To's new film.

The actor expressed, "I have been nominated for Best Supporting Actor numerously in the past, but this is the first time I had won Best Actor. This is a really great encouragement for me."

In addition to his Best Actor victory, the movie also brought home Best Leading Actress for mainland actress Li Zichen, as well as Best Feature Film.

Eddie said, "The movie has yet to be released in cinemas but it has already won three awards overseas. It proves that Hong Kong movies still have quality and can attract attention. I hope it would receive a lot of support from the audience when it releases."

He also said that the cast and crew will only celebrate their victory as soon as the awards arrived in Hong Kong.

"Twilight Online", which also star Babyjohn Choi and Lawrence Chou, will be released in cinemas in September.
