Ederson bombarded with messages from Arsenal fans after phone number leaked ahead of Man City win at Tottenham

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson was bombarded with messages from fans after his phone number was leaked before his team’s win at Tottenham on Tuesday night.

The Brazilian shot-stopper posted a screenshot of his messages, which appeared to predominantly be from Arsenal fans doing their best to put him off ahead of their clash at north London rivals Spurs.

“Up the Arsenal,” read one whereas one well-wisher wrote: “Hello you beautiful Brazilian god, how much for a good night tonight?”

Ederson appeared to have deleted what may have been the fruitier comments sent shortly before the Spurs game, which he posted on social media with the caption: “My number was leaked, and I had some funny messages.”

It was a mixed evening for the 30-year-old, who endured the phone number leak before being taken off with a head injury during the second half.

Pep Guardiola confirmed his keeper had suffered from blurred vision before being substituted on doctor’s orders for Stefan Ortega, which prompted a frustrated reaction from Ederson on what was the fourth time he’d been forced out of a Premier League game this season.

“Ederson has a kick in the eye and it’s swollen,” said the Man City boss.

“He couldn’t see properly. The doctor said I had to replace him. When the doctors say that I don’t have an alternative.

“I understand [Ederson’s reaction], he wants to play. I understand.”

However, City took a huge step towards a fourth straight title by beating Spurs 2-0, courtesy of a second-half double by Erling Haaland.

It remains to be seen if Ederson will be fit for Sunday’s final game of the season, at home to West Ham. Victory will secure them the trophy ahead of Arsenal.
