Eiza González is sticking up for Jennifer Lopez.

Following Lopez's announcement that she had canceled her nationwide summer tour, González, 34, took to Instagram to call out those who've been trolling Lopez, 54, online amid the public attention the singer and actress has received in recent weeks.

"I have to say the level of bullying that this woman has received in the last few months is so disturbing and heartbreaking," González wrote on her Instagram Stories on May 31, according to multiple outlets that captured screengrabs of the now-deleted post.

"How can you complain about someone being mean while enjoying mean about them," Gonzalez wrote. "People are humans, make mistakes and some have personal things happening while also having to be constantly perfect in the public eye. The world is a pretty complicated place. The best thing we could be doing right now is be kind. We have no clue what people are experiencing."

González's words came shortly after Lopez, whose marriage to Ben Affleck has been in the spotlight, released a statement to her fans on her website OntheJLo announcing that her This Is Me... Live tour is canceled and she is "taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends."

"I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down," the "Jenny on the Block" singer wrote. "Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary."

Lopez's tour was set to run from June through August in support of her February album This Is Me...Now. Her announcement regarding its cancelation came soon after Lopez finished promoting her recent Netflix action movie Atlas, which began streaming on May 24, and weeks of reported marital issues between her and Affleck, 51, whom she married in 2022.

Sources recently told PEOPLE the couple have been living separately in Los Angeles in recent weeks, though they were seen together as recently as Sunday, June 2, at a basketball game for Affleck's 12-year-old son Samuel. They were also spotted together on Thursday, May 30, while they attended Affleck's daughter Violet's graduation ceremony.
