Elderly woman's hand severed by HDB block lift doors
An elderly woman’s left hand was trapped between the lift doors of an HDB block along Tah Ching Road on Friday (9 October), the Singapore Civil Defence Force said in a statement.
She sustained a serious injury to her left hand and was sent to the National University Hospital, the SCDF said.
It is understood the woman’s hand was severed in the incident. It was retrieved by paramedics, packaged in ice and taken to the hospital.
The incident occurred on the ground floor of Block 322 near Jurong Lake.
The SCDF said it despatched several vehicles to the scene after it was alerted to the incident at 7:27am. SCDF personnel later had to use rescue tools to pry open the lift doors.
