Election candidates to debate at university hustings

Canterbury’s parliamentary candidates for the general election are to take part in a special hustings at a Kent university.

Representatives from all political parties will outline their main policies before a question and answer session.

The event will take place at Canterbury Christ Church University’s Augustine Hall on 19 June.

The audience will be made up of local residents, university students and staff and secondary school pupils.

Questions to the candidates must be submitted to the university prior to the event.

The parliamentary candidates attending the event are:

  • Rosie Duffield - Labour

  • Louise Harvey-Quirke - Conservative Party

  • Henry Stanton - Green Party

  • Russ Timpson - Liberal Democrats

  • Bridget Porter - Reform UK

  • Luke Buchanan - Hodgman - Social Democratic Party

The event has been organised by the university’s politics and international relations programme and the Students’ Union.
